I’ve been sharing a lot more on Social Media lately, but it’s not exactly photography-focused. It’s a lot more life and finding joy related. Why? Because I believe that being able to feel like you’re living life on your terms and living life that FEELS joyful, will create much more meaningful photographs, rather more meaningful portraits. Whether you’re snapping away on your cellphone, getting “caught” in someone else’s photos, or considering having professional portraits, the sentiment is the same. I hope that when you SEE yourself, you FEEL like yourself; and that particular self that you see, makes you smile.
No, it doesn’t need to be “picture-perfect”, just perfectly you. Even when I photograph you in the studio or in your home or office, or some other location, I know that the best images are those that capture the real you, living your real life, and rarely is any of it up to some subjective standard of perfection.
My goal in life, and in my photography business, is to always encourage you to find what makes you feel most like you, to honor all the parts of you that you are, and to help you connect the two together - and then, and only then, help you capture what all of that means in a portrait. THAT is my definition of a portrait. A photo may capture a time and a place and what someone looks like. A portrait captures what someone looks like when they FEEL like themselves, no matter what they are doing or where they are.
This is why I am working so hard at bringing you more than just photography. I want to give you portraiture, and portraiture begins with true life. I am trying to bring you ways to bring out the true you; not just the you that feels rushed, and busy, and productive, but the you that feels centered, and peaceful and energized, and alive, too.
So, you’re going to see a lot more from me than just portraits. You’re going to see me finding my own personal portraiture, and you’re going to see me sharing things that I feel may help you and others do the same.
I want you to FEEL the peace of living your life from the inside out. I want you to FEEL that the life you are living and the you that you are, is truly and lovingly, you. And if you ever want to capture that you that you are in Portraiture, I’m here for that too.
XO K~
